7. They Tell You to Keep It Secret
Scam sign: The scammer says not to tell your bank, family, spouse, friends, or the police.
This is a major warning sign. Scammers want to isolate victims so nobody can stop the payment. They may claim it is a confidential investigation, a family emergency, or a security process.
Real fraud teams do not need you to hide information from trusted people.
What to do:
Talk to someone you trust before sending money or sharing personal information. A second opinion can stop a scam before it becomes expensive.
