3. They Ask for Personal Information

Scam sign: The message or caller asks for your Social Security number, bank details, card number, password, Medicare number, or one-time verification code.
A common trick is asking you to “confirm your identity.” Scammers may sound professional and claim they are protecting your account, but they are actually trying to steal access.
A serious warning sign is when someone asks for a code sent to your phone. That code may allow them to log in to your account.

Do not share passwords, banking details, or verification codes with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.
